Project Development

A competition undertaken with funding from the Technology Strategy Board to sustainably extend and refurbish a concrete-framed home to Passivhaus principles. The project team implemented a solution to resolve the significant damp, mould and thermal comfort issues inherent in the original building. They installed innovative M&E and sustainable products, including a bespoke CIBSE award-winning MVHR system which utilised the sun’s energy through Nanogel technology to provide space heating. The performance of the building was monitored following completion and demonstrated an 87% reduction in CO² emissions. MA provided detailed procurement advice for completing the specialist elements of the project.

Added Value

Acting as Contract Administrator, we provided procurement advice to deal with the specialist packages of works at best-value. The whole project team worked collaboratively to develop solutions to the significant design challenges faced in this pioneering refurbishment to Passivhaus principles.
