Skinners Kent Academy, Wilmington Academy, Knole Academy, St Augustine Academy, John Wallis Academy, Duke of York Academy, Dover Christ Church Academy. The KCC Academies Programme is the largest programme of Academies in the country, in total the programme construction cost is £120M. In total there were eight sites across Kent, three main contractors, numerous architects, designers, consultants and supply chain members. We acted as the single post-contract Client’s Representative, primarily responsible for quality project management and programme. The main programme was delivered in two years.
The key to understanding construction work in the education sector is that the programme cannot slip: term dates are agreed years in advance and cannot be amended. All of the schemes were BIM compliant. Some of the schemes also included refurbishment, all schemes were built within or adjacent to a school with a full roll, therefore the health and safety issues in protecting the children were extensive.
