This week heralds the completion of the Barnardo's Garden Village development Phase III. Located within the historic Barnardo's Garden Village, the scheme was originally founded by Thomas Barnardo as a sanctuary for young homeless girls and women of the Victorian Era. However, the village gradually grew redundant over the years, and was finally considered by Barnardo's for redevelopment as a fund raiser for the charity.
With such close historical links to the charity, heritage was key in the design of the redevelopment. Martin Arnold Limited were instructed by Barnardo's to act as Employer's Agent, within a project team alongside Mace and Mullalley & Co, to deliver the large residential scheme of 144 dwellings, with buildings architecturally sympathetic to the original cottages as originally commissioned by Thomas Barnardo.
The final sub-phased completion includes the four bedroom premium houses facing onto the historic Green, completing the serene village ambience of the completed development.
Martin Arnold Limited are proud to announce that we shall be working alongside Barnardo's in the very near future with the residential refurbishment of twelve of the existing cottages, including the historic Cairns clock tower, and the new build development of thirty two new dwellings, consistent in architectural style with the recently completed Phase III works. Barnardo's Garden Village has made the shortlist for the Inside Housing; Top 60 Developments in the Market Sale Developments category.
